Unblock the Blog

We're back! And obviously not pleased with the censorship of our blog, though grateful for the solidarity shown in the blogosphere through the petition SD created and the several resulting posts on other blogs.

With promiscuous behaviour rampant and in plain view in Dubai, it's a sad state of affairs when the Government would rather clean up the blogosphere instead of the city's streets.

While many of you may not be happy with the content of our blog, we can all safely agree that it being blocked is a dangerous infringement on free speech, especially given its anonymous nature and the fact that at the end of the day, it is social commentary on Dubai and a reflection of the ever increasing single population in the Emirate.

We have written to the editors of the city's newspapers and invite you to do the same. Our blog may not get unblocked, but together our voices may still be heard.

    This is one of my favourite blogs. Sadly, the Secret Dubai petition (and Secret Dubai is another of my favourite blogs) requires my real name, which I do not give.

    Your blog was initially sexanddubai.blogspot.com, which was automatically blocked for having 'sex' in the URL. So you changed the URL to single-in-dubai, which, for a time, was not blocked.

    In 1861, Britain was a) desperate for cheap cotton; and b) vehemently opposed to slavery.

    Had Jefferson Davis re-named slavery as, say, serfdom, the Confederacy would have received massive British aid, and North America would now have at least four separate political entities. But Jefferson Davis was enthralled with his Confederacy's 'peculiar institution,' and refused to change a single syllable.

    As a result, the British did not intervene, and the Yankees succeeded in driving the Confederacy to an unconditional surrender.

    The moral of this story is that your blog must avoid any mention of the word ***. Euphemisms are not only acceptable, but encouraged.

    Or you will be blocked, which would be a sad loss for Dubai.

    God, our regimes in the Gulf are really a tiresome fucking joke. Instead of spending time and using their half-wit to come up with ways to have a sustainable economy, they're concerned with meaningless censorship. If only the shitheads at the ministries would start writing blogs about how their night with the expensive russian hooker went while the wife and kids were sound asleep at home. Keep writing, and try to navigate around these bastards with innovative twists on language... atleast us gulfites who've decided to reside elsewhere can continue to engage with and spread discussions on the fantastic confluence of patriarchy, misogyny in a population that has been engineered by its sick government to be unable to think critically or construct an intelligent sentence... and how this has massive ramifications on our ability to find partners that don't make cavemen seem like Proust.

    do yourself a favor and unblock my favorite blog! If you don't do that Cici and Jici from the story bellow will be named (and shamed) and links to photographs and other proofs be provided. Compared to that, "Sex and Dubai", my favorite blog, will look like the ramblings of two nuns.


    The Story of Cici and Jici


    Cici is young, handsome and rich. In Maktoumland (a land of virtue), Cici's family posesses reputation, power and billion-worth empire (not necesarily in that order).

    Jici is young, (some say) pretty and poor. In a dull village, somewhere in Eastern Europe, Jici's family posesses - nothing.

    Jici came to Maktoumland several years ago, led by the dreams of modeling career... but dreams vanished in the clash with cruel reality. The competition in modeling business was harsh, the gigs rare and the costs of living in Maktoumland high and ever increasing. It wasn't long before Jici's modeling pictures appeared in the web catalogs... the type of catalogs that have the models' fees bellow the models' pictures.

    There, in Maktoumland (a land of virtue ), Cici met Jici (no prise is given for guessing how) and drown with her into the magical world of sexual pleasures...

    Needless to say, they did not bother with milsha, wedding and other unnecessary formalities. Why would they? Cici belonged to the Maktounland's holy class and in Maktoumland (a land of virtue) law obliges only the mortals!

    Striving to give their sexual encounters the surounding they deserve, Cici buyed lavish villa in one of Maktoumland's top locations. The two moved in together...

    As Jici was somewhat of kiss-and-tell character, first the rumors and then tabloid headlines appeared in her home country in Eastern Europe: "Jici and Sheikh!", "Jici's catch: son of one of the richest people in Maktoumland!"... Of course, Jici did not omit to supply tabloids with the pictures of her and Cici as well as pictures of their lavish love nest.     The story on Cici and Jici - part II



    Firstly, a short summary of Cici's and Jici's actions (from part I):

    sex without marriage, illegal cohabitation, posing for pornographic material (Jici) and exporting that material to Eastern Europe.

    I have to confess: none of these "impress" me at all. I mean, although crimes and punishable in UAE, none of these actions represents crime in my own, personal system of values. And if Cici's and Jici's (mis)behaviour had not exceeded the level of just-sex-no-marriage, cohabitation and pornography - you would not be reading these lines. I surely would've not bothered.

    But Cici and Jici, went beyond. They crossed the line. The line that separates "turning a blind eye" from "screaming out of rage and anger".

    On a flight back to Dubai (after visiting her home country) Jici PUNCHED A WOMAN WHO WAS BREASTFEEDING A BABY!

    Of course, the crew imediately informed the pilots, the pilots informed UAE officials (obliged by international regulations to do so) and a warm wellcome in form of arrest waited Jici at Dubai airport.

    You guessed, this is where Cici comes into tale...

    To be honest, id rather it stays blocked.

    Now, I'm a very open minded person. I have lived big part of my life travelling around, studied 4 years of my university in the UK.

    But, when the people start talking and acting in ways that are neither part of the religion nor the culture, thats when the Government is not recommended, but obliged to step in.

    Doing such acts in the first place were not considered illegal for no reason, but due to the impact they hold against the society and the families.
    I can claim that you will not have a wonderful family life (if ur going to have any at all), and most probably my claim will turn out to be true.

    Now, doing such acts behind closed curtains, and talking about it out in the open is a different issue.

    You are showing how easy and ok it is to get involved in such acts. Many people who may start up being shy, might have the guts later on to ask a girl to get involved in such acts. Is that the right thing to do?
    Or is the right thing to get married to the person you like, form a good family and raise decent kids after that.

    Just for once, have the seriousness of imagining ur self applying to the biggest company around, will you add such a blog to your cv? or in the other hand, imagine ur self getting married to a decent honest person, will the first thing you do is show him this blog and what u did?

    You will be asked one day of how you spent your life and your time. This blog will have a very very huge impact on what happens that day. Not only because of the words on it, but because of what other people might think, and might do, when reading such a blog.

    Why would anyone feel sorry for him?

    He is an asshole who used his father's position and his wasta to get her relaised from detention. She was arrested at DXB for intentionally hitting baby in the head and punching baby's mother! My sister-in-law was in that plain and she couldn't sleep that night beacuse of shock! The passangers commented that Jakovljevic must've been on some drugs, as she was screaming so hystericaly, and looked totaly messed up and grogy. She vomited during entire flight and kept accusing air-hosteses that they served poisoned mushrooms(!!!) to the passangers.

    Everyone from the plane was sure that Jakovljevic will be tested for drugs (as it is obligatory for agressive passangers), but instead they read in the Serbian newspapers that she made a phone call to some rich Emirati with "connections" and that he arranged that she is released from detention withot drug test.

    Everyone was shocked. Not that people didn't know that Dubai is shit-hole, in which rich ones can do what ever they are pleased and get away with it, but still... we didn't know that that applied to the prostitutes they fuck as well.

    I just hope that poor baby didn't get some serious brain injury. It cried terribly after it was hit. Baby's heads are so soft, and my siter-in-law said that the monster Jakovljevic pushed her seat with all the force she had... And she did that even though the air-hostes told her that she can't transform her seat into a bed in economy class, if the passinger who sits behind holds a baby on her lap. Why didn't "supermodel" pay herself business class?

    I don't care about her prostituing herself, or posing for pornographic material, or having secret love affair with a man who finance hiding of the Serbian war criminals... but what happened in that plane and after, at Dubai airport, is simply unbelieveble.

    Dubai sucks! Face it.

    As a concerned citizen of the gulf, I find this "posturing for effect" attitude boring and redundant. Are you seriously, espousing the abolishment of censorship on the grounds of hypocrisy?

    There is nothing clever about degrading the beautiful act of sex with childish aphorisms and epithets. A more lucid analysis for sexuality can be made by analysing it within a social, religious, historic and cultural framework, rather than having to resort to juvenille mockery.

    Perhaps if you trusted the intellect of your audience, rather than your linguistic prowess, you could have attracted more fruitful debate. However, if it is comedic relief you seek, I suppose many will find your brand of toilet humour quite stimulating.

    I truly hope your site stays blocked. Sex is allowed in Islam and it's actually the right of both men and women to have rightful sex but talking about it the way you do is distasteful and disgusting. Your site is blocked not because you are a "sinner or a bad person, no one has a right to judge you but God". However it's blocked because it promotes promiscuous behavior and advertises (whether knowingly or not) degrading and inferior sexual relationships. Sex is part of human nature but it is a basic act, that's when intellect comes in, that's what separates us from animals. You cannot live normally without sex but to make it your focus means that you are intellectually crippled. Things are prohibited in Islam for deeper reasons than the simple stereotypical narrow-minded jargon you people preoccupy yourselves with. What you do in your private life is your business...and it's not YOUR problem what people do behind closed doors. Advertising it , now that's a million times worse. One day you'll have kids and grow up and maybe then your brain will get stimulated rather than your other organs!!

    Reading your comments here I understood just one thing: you all are extremely jealous on this girl. I mean every human has its own goals in hers/his life, we are not all the same, so leave girl and boy to do whatever they want - they private life is their business. And taking photos for Playboy doesn't mean she is prostitute - Cindy Crawford also did it - do you think she is prostitute??? And please stop reading those stupid Serbian tabloids because 99% written inside is not true. They are making up the stories in order to sell.     For Matthew: first of all I did not write a bullshit. You obviously did not understand me. What I wanted to say is that their life is their own business. Do you personally know any of them? Why it couldn't happen that they are both in love? Is it so impossible?
    OK, even if she is married to him because of his money it is her own business - her life goal was to marry rich man - my life goal is to have good education and average peaceful life with my family, yours is something else... Your life is not my business, my life is not your business.
    I just don't like judging to people without knowing them or knowing from stupid, cheap newspapers...

    Good for you with continuing your blog even in the midst of censorship! I commend you for continuing to write even though clearly they do not agree with what you are saying. Do you write your blog mainly because you know it goes against what is believed you should not be doing, or for other reasons?
    You make a good point about the segregation of sexes in a society that looks down on homosexuality. While it may not necessarily promote homosexuality, it does not really discourage it when you are not supposed to be having premarital sex with men and you are with women all the time.

    I recommend if you can use a more witty title that won't be blocked. It is true it's hard to transfer the information from one page to another. Though, it's better to reach out to the general public somehow.
    You can have a title, for example, underground dubai, dubai candy...etc ;)

    Though, be wise in your blog, you can write your experiences in the form of stories instead of first hand information. Add flavor to it :D

    First of all, I feel obligated to state that I am what you might refer to as a one time reader and this was my very first visit to your rather well managed site.
